Aletse’s Menstrual Cup: Comfortable, safe, and awarded the National Quality Award
What is the Aletse’s Menstrual Cup?
The menstrual cup is a small bell-shaped device made of medical-grade silicone that is inserted into the vaginal canal to collect menstrual flow. Unlike pads and tampons, the cup does not absorb but collects, making it more hygienic, comfortable, and sustainable. With proper care, it can last over 10 years.
How to use

- Fold the menstrual cup — there are several folding techniques;
the most common is in a ‘C’ shape. - Insert it — with clean hands, insert the folded cup into the vaginal canal pointing towards your back.
- Let it expand — the cup should fully open to create a soft seal that prevents leaks.
- Remove it every 8 to 12 hours — gently pull on the stem, pinch the base to break the seal, and take it out.
- Wash it and reinsert it — rinse it with cold water and mild soap before using it again.
At the end of your cycle, sterilize it by boiling it in water or using the sterilizer.
How do I know it's properly positioned?
You will know the menstrual cup is correctly placed when:
- You won't feel a thing — if the cup is well positioned, you shouldn't feel it at all.
- No leaks — the seal created between the cup and the vaginal walls should be complete.
- The stem is not bothersome. — if the stem is uncomfortable, you can gradually trim it to your liking.
If you feel pressure or discomfort, remove it, fold it again, and try again. With practice, the process becomes very simple.

You shouldn't even feel it. A properly placed menstrual cup is completely unnoticeable. If you feel pressure, discomfort, or notice leaks, you may need to adjust the position, try a different fold, or check if the size is right for you.
